Welcome to Jenny Wren Clinical Supervision & Somatic Psychotherapy!
I’m Jennifer Maleus, proud owner of Jenny Wren Clinical Supervision & Somatic Psychotherapy.
Jenny Wren’s mission is to teach developing therapists how to be highly qualified trauma-focused psychotherapists and deliver expert body-based trauma-informed therapy to clients across the lifespan.
With a background spanning nearly 20 years in diverse therapeutic settings, including addictions counselling, crisis support in community and hospital, private practice and facilitating luxury psychedelic-assisted retreats, my focus has acutely evolved towards body-centred approaches to healing trauma.
My specialization stems from both extensive clinical experience and a personal understanding of the body’s profound capacity for healing, awakened during my own difficult healing process from personal traumas, supported by the restorative power of nature.
Jenny Wren is my inner child, who has finally learned to feel both held and free within her body.
This practice is for her.
With me as your guide, you can expect to learn body-based therapeutic interventions, somatic yoga therapy techniques, all exquisitely blended with Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy.
Somatic Techniques are informed by ongoing advanced training in Somatic Yoga Therapy (YYT-300HR), to help clients access and co-create lasting change. I was hand-selected to be formally trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS/parts work) by Richard Schwartz (Creator of IFS) himself, coupled with Advanced Training in Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy.
Jenny Wren Clinical Supervision & Somatic Psychotherapy is your trusted partner in creating a sanctuary dedicated to embodied healing.
I can’t wait to work with you!
I believe that healing is a personal journey, and you are the expert of your own life. My role is to walk beside you with care, curiosity, and respect as you explore your story. I draw on Person-Centered Therapy, trauma-informed approaches, Mindfulness-Based practices, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard and empowered.
As an immigrant to Canada and a woman of colour, I understand the challenges of navigating multiple identities while building a sense of belonging. These lived experiences shape the compassion and understanding I will bring to our work together, especially when supporting individuals from diverse and marginalized communities. With over three years of experience supporting people through acculturation stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and self-esteem struggles, I will tailor our sessions to your unique needs. This may include exploring patterns of thought and behaviour, identifying your strengths and solutions, fostering self-acceptance, or building motivation for meaningful change.
I completed my Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychological and Health Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough, followed by a post-graduate certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Durham College. I am now pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and will be completing my psychotherapy internship under the supervision of Jennifer Maleus.
Having personally felt the stigma and barriers that can come with reaching out for help, I know the courage it takes to begin therapy. It would be an honour to accompany you in this process, listening closely and learning how I can best support you.
